Still Moon Arts' residency at the Slocan Park Fieldhouse
More vandalism to Ted and more facial reconstruction surgery- getting trickier each time it gets torn #mushroomsculpture #ecoarts #stillmoonarts #renfrewravine #stillcreek #communityartproject via Instagram https://ift.tt/2Zp8DaO
This gauze-like cotton was dyed with goldenrod from the garden and a mixture of blackberries and Oregon grapes picked in Renfrew Ravine. We’re so pleased to feature it in “Cracks in Creeks: Live Streaming” our summer youth performance program!
This youth-created performance piece will be debuted on Aug 11th as part of @vinesfestival, 5-6:30pm in Renfrew Park.
If you’re out of town in August, don’t worry! We’ll be performing the piece again on Sept 22 at the CNH Annex, and filming a documentary with youth videographer Jamarr Hepburn.

We had some new and returning faces at our dye garden work party on Wednesday! It was a hot evening in the sun but volunteers were enthusiastic in weeding, and got to harvest some oregon grape and blackberry by the cool shade of the ravine. Our next work party will be happening on August 14th from 6-8pm – be sure to come out to help support our plant dye programs! .

We experimented with natural ink-making today!
Walnut, Oregon grape, and hollyhock thickened with gum arabic and combined with vinegar and/or iron. All the plants came from the Ravine and the dye garden.
The colours really changed on the different kinds of paper we each had! Thanks Emma for this fun afternoon!
.
Is anybody interested in having us develop this for a future workshop? .

We’re getting ready for tonight’s Forager’s Feast! Rhubarb from the dye garden (the toxic leaves are a great mordant) is becoming pie mixed with local berries from last year. 🍓🍓🍓
There’s still time to register on eventbrite if you want to come enjoy food and community tonight! The Forager’s Feast encourage connection to food and nature, celebrating slow food. Everyone brings a dish with at least one ingredient that they grew or ethically foraged themselves. Not sure what that means? We’ll be learning more from an Indigenous medicine facilitator this evening, through Resurfacing History!
